We love music
Steve Gibbs and Ross Griggs are Two Lucky Pluckers, a versatile guitar/vocal duo. Between us we've notched up decades of professional experience. We've performed at all levels, from grass-roots right through to working alongside a wide range of high-level artists from across the entertainment spectrum (e.g. The Three Degrees, Chas and Dave, Judas Priest, Toyah), in some of the most prestigious venues (e.g. Hammersmith Odeon/Apollo, The Royal Albert Hall).
We cut our musical teeth in the mid-seventies when, as teenagers, we formed our very first band together. However, after that band split up, we went our separate ways and hadn’t had any contact until 2017, when we were reunited through a mutual friend on FaceBook. We found that we lived quite close to one another and, over a couple of pints and a curry, decided to get together again - and Two Lucky Pluckers was born.
With TLP, what you see is what you get – two guys, two guitars and two voices, performing classic songs from the 50’s to the present day, with quality equipment and professionalism adding up to great entertainment.
Add it up and we’ve been performers for a combined total of over 80 years – we’re quite experienced! Along the way we’ve played scout huts all the way up to stadiums, and we both make our living from music. This means we’re available during the day Monday to Friday when most semi-pro musicians would be working at their day jobs (it’s nice never having to worry about getting up early for work the next day!) Travel is also no problem for us – offer us enough money and there's no limit to how far we’ll go for a booking!
We have an extensive, ever-growing repertoire which we’re happy to tailor to the requirements of those that book us. This flexibility lets us focus on what works with any particular audience and give them more of it.
We have no drummer or drum machine – which means that we can play really quietly if needed, even just two acoustic guitars and voices. But we have a 4kW PA, so we can be really, really loud if required! We also have a battery powered PA for those occasions when mains electricity can’t be had.
Last but not least, both as musicians and entertainers, people tell us we're quite good!
